Taking the Leap into 802.11n
We help you navigate the wild and wooly world of pre-standard wireless network gear.
Apple Airport Extreme with 802.11n It sounds too good to be true. 802.11n, the next-generation wireless network standard, delivers 100 Mbps or more throughput (true speed, not data rate) with more than twice the range of current 802.11g/a wireless network products.  So what’s the catch? No standards, no certified products, limited interoperability, and no guaranteed firmware upgradeability. The 802.11n standard probably won’t be ratified until the fall of 2008, but vendors began releasing “pre-N” and “MIMO-based” products based on initial iterations of the specification more…

With this new wireless technology, is it possible to connect this 802.11n to the computer and a 1080p display that is in another room, say 50’. I am trying to wirelessly recieve 1080p to my television that can only accept this resolution via the DVI input on the back of my 65” Mitsu 801 DLP. I am not tech savy or even know if it is possible to obtain 1080p resolution via a wireless device, with all of the copyright protections and such. Any information would be much appreciated, thank’s. Jim.

Note:  the Wi-Fi Alliance is not a standards body and is not responsible for finalizing the 802.11n spec. It conducts interoperability testing for Wi-Fi enabled equipment.
