It’s probably not the best time of the year to launch an outdoor theater package. However, we’re guessing if someone gets Open Air Cinema’s CineBox 3D as a gift, they’re going to be outside, firing it up on Christmas Day.
The company’s latest outdoor theater package promises theater-quality 3D for the backyard, by the pool, on the deck, or anywhere else under the stars.
CineBox 3D looks very similar to some of Open Air Cinema’s previous packages. It comes with a giant inflatable movie screen, a sound mixer, speakers, and all of the necessary pieces to make an instant theater. That includes the blower fan for the screen, as well as cables and a carrying case.
However, the new pieces include an Optoma 3D-compatible projector, a PlayStation 3 (to serve as the Blu-ray 3D player), a 3D projector adapter and two pairs of 3D glasses.
The screen is available in sizes ranging from 9 to 40 feet. You can also tweak the package for 1080p or 720p performance.
“Hollywood is embracing 3D technology because it provides such an amazing, immersive experience,” said Brandon Purdie, president of Open Air Cinema. “Our CineBox 3D is on the cutting edge of outdoor cinema because it allows moviegoers to see Hollywood’s biggest movies the way they were intended to be seen. When the world-class sound, video and projection technology is combined with our giant inflatable movie screens it creates nothing less than movie magic under the stars.”
Open Air Cinema is now selling the CineBox 3D package. Prices start at $4,749 for the 3D 720p setup.
