Amazon may have kicked off the shopping season, but don’t expect discounts to dwindle with the turkey leftovers.
In an effort to create a buzz on “Cyber Monday,” The Wall Street Journal says that online retailers will be offering more discounts than ever. The National Retail Federation says that 83.7 percent of online retailers have promotions planned. That’s up 11.5 percent from last year.
It makes sense, considering online spending is down for 2008. However, don’t just plan to surf your favorite websites. Some of that endless spam you regularly get may include special offers, including free shipping. In a press release, the National Retail Federation said that 38.8 percent of popular promotions will be specific deals, with 32.7 percent coming from email campaigns, and another 24.5 percent to be via one-day sales.
We love cheap/no shipping costs. That usually hinders a lot of online transactions.
