At least 250 websites will be offering the added incentive for one day only.

Still surfing the web for that perfect holiday gift? There’s a chance that those last-minute Christmas gifts won’t make it in time, but at least the shipping will be free.

Luke Knowles, founder of FreeShipping.org, has declared Thursday to be Free Shipping Day. The idea is to give the economy a little kick in the pants—at least online. Technically, Thursday is the last day that you can order and get guaranteed Christmas delivery.

“Simply put, Free Shipping Day is the last chance for many people to buy gifts and get them delivered to the intended recipient in a nick of time,” Knowles explained in a statement. “We are a nation of procrastinators, so I think that Free Shipping Day will become a popular annual event.”

It’s a nice little gimmick. Everyone loves something free. Apparently retailers love it too; Knowles has recruited about 250 of them to participate. That includes Target, Circuit City, Sears, and more. A complete list can be found on the Free Shipping Day website.
