More people are streaming more media than ever before. However, that doesn’t mean you need to have a permanent pair of headphones or have that portable tethered to your home theater setup. Onkyo just announced new ways to stream that content right to any of the products in the company’s 2012 receiver line.

First up, Onkyo says that they’re about to launch an upgrade for the Onkyo Remote 2 App for the iPod and iPhone. The latest version will allow users to stream music from an iPod touch or iPhone right to any of the 2012 networked receivers, using a wireless network. Onkyo boasts CD-quality, 44.1/16bit rates, as well as metadata so you always know the track, album, artist and time data for the music that’s playing. It even supports album art.

Onkyo has also tweaked the Onkyo Remote App for Android. This means that Kindle Fire users can now get in on the fun, streaming music and managing remote zone functions.

Last, but not least, the company has started shipping the long-awaited UBT-1 Bluetooth USB Adapter (pictured below). This $59 dongle will allow users to stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled phones, tablets and other devices. Just plug the adapter into your receiver’s front USB port (on models TX-NR414 and higher), and start streaming stored music and music services, right to the receiver.

Onkyo says that the UBT-1 adapter supports AAC files and comes configured with CSR’s aptX compression reduction codec, which promises to restore the natural dynamic range to audio files. It boasts a flat frequency response over a 10Hz to 22kHz bandwidth, a dynamic range of 92 dB, and algorithmic delay of less than 1.89ms.

Onkyo’s UBT-1 Bluetooth USB Adapter is available now. The new Remote Control Apps should be available by the end of the month.
