Home theaters in a box ain’t what they used to be. And more wattage isn’t the only thing making them more powerful these days.

Just look at the new HT-S9100THX theater package from Onkyo—whose A/V receivers come highly recommended by the DIY theater experts over at AVS Forum.

This theater package combines a 7.1-channel speaker system with an Onkyo receiver that delivers 130 watts per channel and a slew of high-performance goods.

Among them:

  • THX Loudness Plus technology
  • Four HDMI v. 1.3a inputs
  • Onboard Faroudja DCDi Edge video processing
  • Audyssey 2EQ and Dynamic EQ audio calibration
  • Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio lossless audio codecs
  • HD-capable component video switching for two HD source components

If you’re wondering about the speakers, they’re in the form of seven two-way models that are tonally matched, the company says. There’s also a 12-inch subwoofer with an integrated 290-watt amp.

You can grab the Onkyo system for an SRP of $1,099 and rock on.
