In the in-case-you-hadn’t-already-guessed category, Paramount may have lagged a little bit behind Universal Studios but the movie studio is now firmly behind Blu-ray as the high-definition media format of choice.
That makes all the major studios lined up with Blu, after Paramount told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement that: “We are pleased that the industry is moving to a single high-definition format, as we believe it is in the best interest of the consumer. As we look to (begin) releasing our titles on Blu-ray, we will monitor consumer adoption and determine our release plans accordingly.”
Paramount did not specifically cite its DreamWorks branch as being a part of this move, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing Shrek and the Bee Movie coming to Blu-ray sometime soon.
We’ll be sure to give you a heads up when we see the release dates of some of Paramount’s other premium titles heading Blu. Personally, when Spielberg decides to transfer the Indiana Jones series (please don’t wait until the fourth one comes out, although I’ll understand if he does) I’ll be first in line to grab that Blu-ray box set.
