In Need for Speed: Undercover, the player takes on the role of an underground cop. What’s the riskiest job or stunt you’ve ever tried?
[Laughs] I’d have to say cheerleading! I’m not a real cheerleader, so I’ve had to do some crazy stunts. Guys don’t think so, but that’s really hard. I just did the new Bring It On movie, and I had to learn like 20 routines and full-on tumbling and get thrown in the air. That didn’t have anything to do with underground crews or the cops like here, but I was scared of falling on my pom-poms. Plus, cheerleaders can be pretty lethal if you’re not part of their clique.

Do you find fast cars a turn on – and what does a guy’s ride say about him?
Oh, I totally find them a turn on. I think fast cars say a lot of things. If it’s an old guy, it’s saying midlife crisis. If it’s a young guy, it’s saying that you’re not mature yet. [Laughs] Just kidding! I’m actually been really into fast cars since I was young. I think that girls get kind of scared sometimes, and I think it’s exciting when a guy’s speeding through traffic and you don’t know what’s going to happen and you’re at the edge of your seat. Of course you get there fine, but it’s a little dangerous, and I like that – it’s kind of James Bond. So I think it says that they’re a little daring and I kind of like that in a guy a lot actually.

How does the shady world of underground races depicted in the game compare to something like, say, the real-world music business?
Music’s definitely a shady business. I can’t give too much away about the video game, but it definitely has its similarities in many ways. It’s a rapid life where you just don’t know what’s going to come next. To put the music business in comparison, you never know what car’s going to come crash into you and what you’ll get away with. Compared to this game, I guess they have a lot to do with each other.

Rock music has about 60 million games from Rock Revolution to Ultimate Band devoted to it – where’s the pop equivalent?
I’m sure that’s going to come soon. But the thing is, pop music is mostly made on computers and drum machines now. They already have some great karaoke games for pop music. But I think rock music is classic, and people who play it use every single instrument and it’s so old-school and timeless, whereas pop music is great and huge for the moment, but there’s so much of it that people are on to the next thing by tomorrow. Rock music is just way more classic…

So that means we probably won’t see R&B Hero anytime soon?
Oh my gosh, no… There could be a Michael Jackson version or something, though. I could see that. Him, Madonna, Janet and some more ‘80s acts could come together and put something out.

Just for the record, in case we ever decide to get off the couch… Is it really possible to pick up a woman while cruising?
Way back when, I met guys that way in high school that way – nowadays, not so much. But it’s possible, you never know. If you’ve got a hot car, you might have a chance.
