N.Y. Yankees Pitchers Dig Home Theater

Game on! The American League Championship Series gets under way tonight between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

While the Angels may play a little closer to Hollywood, we’ve been fortunate enough over the last three years to see how Hollywood—and super technology—has influenced two of the Yankees. Maybe more in A.J. Burnett’s case than C.C. Sabathia’s, as you’ll see. The big lefty has a home setup more suited for watching multiple sporting events, while Burnett, to take from the classic Airplane, seems to enjoy gladiator movies.

Whatever the case, we’re always revved up to revisit some of our award-winning high-tech installation projects, and today is pretty good timing since we’ve got two-thirds of the Yankees’ proposed three-man starting rotation for the ALCS. Now that’s a high-pressure situation, so we’ll show you the rooms these guys get to relax in.

We can’t be certain that Sabathia still lives in his sweet Northern California digs, but who would want to give all of this cool A/V up? Plus with all the coin he earns, chances are he’s got an East Coast home now in addition to NoCal, which was a silver-winning entry in the Best Outdoor category of our 2007 Home of the Year Awards, back when Sabs was hurling for the Indians. It features crazy outdoor tech, plus an outrageous media room with several big-screen displays.

We featured Burnett’s home in this year’s awards program, where it took bronze in the Best Home Theater $250,00 and over category. Hey, he can afford it. And this home theater is loaded for viewing epic movies like 300 and Gladiator, with a 104-inch screen, Runco projector and 7.2-channel surround system featuring B&W speakers and McIntosh gear.

So if you haven’t had a chance to check ‘em out before, click here to view a slideshow of these aces’ homes.
