Numark’s PT-01USB can operate on wall power or six D batteries.
Need to bust a move on the fly? Numark has invented a portable, battery-powered turntable.
The PT-01USB system can hook to the wall or you can pop in six D batteries. There’s also an RCA line output for a quick connection to any PA or stereo system.
Aside from the portable possibilities, the unit can transfer those records to MP3 files. An auxiliary input allows you to hook up other audio sources, while the unit can also stand on its own, via a built-in monitoring speaker. It’s great for the traveling DJ, but for others? Well… unless you carry your record collection in the trunk, the portability probably won’t make much of a difference.
Compatible with both Mac and PC setups, the package also includes a 45 RPM adapter, a cartridge, a USB cable, Audacity software, as well as Numark’s EZ Vinyl Converter 2, which includes Gracenote’s MusicID technology.
At $149, it might make a nice Christmas gift for someone hanging onto (or with) an aging LP collection. The PT-01USB is available now.

A new CEA study says that more builders are offering all types of technology.
It’s hard to imagine life without remote controls, but it’s been a long, strange path to the modern incarnation we know and love today.
The PT-01USB also has the benefit of making your records sound like absolute garbage!
If you’re listening at home, buy a real record player like a Pro-Ject. If you’re listening on the go, buy the CD or MP3s.
