Niveus Media’s servers are pretty robust to begin with, but maybe you’re amassing digital media these days at a pace that warrants ‘bigger and better’ storage.

Of course, the company wants you to upgrade as well, so Niveus has initiated a “Trade-In, Trade-Up” program that will give credit to customers who want to trade in their current servers to a 2009 product.

Sounds similar to what venerable audio manufacturer McIntosh has offered in recent years—though maybe you’d have been more apt to trade in 1970s audio gear than a media server you bought two years ago. Then again, if you’re a video hound even 1 or 2 terabytes might not cut it for you anymore.

Niveus is using a flat trade-in value on its pre-2009 servers regardless of functionality, age or model (you’ll have to check with the Niveus team for more info).

The deal will work with 2009 products Rainier Edition HD Media Server or Pro Series (n4, n7) Media Server. You’re out of luck if you were looking for one of Niveus’ 2009 Denali Limited Edition servers—according to the website they’re sold out, but look for the 2010 Denali LE starting in the fall.
