Niveus Offering Free Media Center Upgrades
Companion Basic version is free, offering remote control of unlimited number of Vista Media Center zones.
February 05, 2008 | by Rachel Cericola

Everyone loves an upgrade—especially when it’s a freebie. Niveus just announced that it has the Niveus Media Center Companion 3.0 and the Niveus Media Center Companion Basic available for download.

The difference is that the Media Center Companion offers client control on Niveus Media Centers, while the Basic version has support music, pictures, and remote control functionality of any Windows Vista-based Media Center user, Niveus or other.

Also, the Basic version is 100 percent free for anyone with a Vista-based Media Center; it’s available on the Niveus website. The full version, however, allows integrated control of media center content and any Windows XP/Vista desktop, laptop, or tablet. If you already have a Niveus unit, the upgrade is free, but you’ll have to call in an installer to get it.

The company has also launched a new forum, so feel free to tell them (or us!) how you feel about the new downloads.
