With potentially millions of gamers frothing at the mouth to get their sweaty thumbs on the Nintendo Wii next week, it’s kind of puzzling as to why anyone would announce an enhancement—on a future upgrade.

Sonic Solutions announced that they are the lucky ones to be providing the power to play DVDs on a future release of the console, which is expected to hit shelves in the second half of 2007.

The announcement has me a bit confused. On the one hand, do I want to sink my hard earned dollars on something that is going to be better by next year’s end? On the other hand: When have I ever watched a DVD on my PlayStation 2?

  • $249.99
  • Wii release date: November 19, 2006
  • Includes 1 wireless controller, 1 Nunchuk controller
