This week is the annual E3 Expo, so gamers can expect a ton of goodies to be announced. Nintendo is kicking off the fanfare with just a few details for its highly anticipated Wii U game console.
In a YouTube video (see below), Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata talks about the highly anticipated console, including the system’s touch-screen controller, the Wii U GamePad.
The Wii U GamePad features two integrated screens, promising “asymmetric” game play. Other new features include dual analog stick controls, which can double as a TV remote. If you don’t like the GamePad, Nintendo will also offer the Wii U Pro Controller, which looks very similar to the Xbox 360’s controller. However, that will be a separate peripheral.
Another new feature is Miiverse, a portal that will allow gamers to share experiences, chat about games and discover new content.
Don’t start tossing that current Wii game collection just yet. All Wii game discs will be compatible with the new Wii U. The new system will also support all of the Wii’s current controllers.
Even more information is expected to follow at Nintendo’s E3 press event, which is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime, you can check out the video below.
