Niles Audio is planning to add a little boom to its lineup—as well as the Indiana Convention Center. At next month’s CEDIA Expo, the company will have two new subwoofers on display, the SW6.5 and the SW8.

Both of the compact subs have fingerprint-resistant piano-black finishes, which can be dropped (not literally!) into any decor. Each one also packs in a long-throw front-firing woofer and two long-throw side-mounted passive radiators. The end result boasts big sound without asking for a lot of space in return. 

The SW6.5 promises 200 watts RMS power and up to 800 watts of peak power, via a 6.5-inch active driver and two 6.5-inch passive radiators. The 10-inch cabinet has also been rated with a frequency response of 42-200Hz.

For a bit of a boost, the SW8 can deliver 300 watts RMS power and up to 1,2000 watts of peak power, using an 8-inch active driver and two 8-inch passive radiators with a frequency response of 36-200Hz. This model is also very compact, measuring about 12 inches cubed.

Other common features include automatic power via a 12-volt trigger or audio signal sensing, and a built-in Cat 5 balun.

“With these new stylishly-designed compact subwoofers, installers can place a high-powered, highly attractive and easily concealed subwoofer virtually anywhere for a home theater or home audio system,” said Paul Starkey, chief marketing officer of Niles. “These subwoofers outperform their larger rivals and offer superior sound quality and design for all residential installations.”

Niles has yet to say anything about availability or pricing, but may offer up some of that info at CEDIA.
