Many of you probably scored a new GPS for the holidays (me too!). There were plenty of features to choose from in the holiday crop, but one might be missing: free traffic updates.

Nextar is giving its customers that juicy little nugget with the new the Q4-LT. The 4.3-inch touchscreen will make its debut at CES 2009 next week. It does have a built-in speaker, but the traffic reports can actually come through your car’s radio system as well.

As far as we know, Nextar is the first one to offer a lifetime of freebies for GPS users; they plan to make it happen by sneaking in some advertising based on each user’s location.

NAVTEQ provides the U.S. and Canadian maps. Other features you’ll find on the unit include a built-in antenna, text to speech, 2D/3D map view and support for MP3s and JPGs. It also comes with a stylus, in case you’re saving that finger for your fellow drivers.

It sounds nice, but don’t pout about your recent addition. You should log plenty of miles before the Q4-LT’s Q3 2009 release date. The unit will retail for $249.99.
