Yesterday, we were talking up Orb Audio. Today, we have another Orb—and it’s about to offer about 35 million hours of audio and video programming options.
Orb Networks just signed a deal with the search engine blinkx, which will add a whole lot of new entertainment options to the company’s products, the Orb TV and Orb BR.
Some of those new options will include Bloomberg, Real Health TV, and everything else in the blinkx catalog. Believe it or not, that includes a ton of programming across a variety of genres. According to blinkx, the company has indexed more than 35 million hours of audio, video, viral and TV content, and made it fully searchable and available on demand.
If you’re not familiar with Orb products, there are two. The Orb TV is a $99 compact device that can stream web content to any TV. Use an iOS and/or Android app to flip through services from Hulu to Netflix to Amazon to Comedy Central. It can also tap into whatever you have lying around on your connected PC.
A slightly less expensive Orb solution is the Orb BR. For $19.99 (that’s not a typo), this software solution can add Orb TV to any connected Blu-ray player, all without an additional piece of hardware.
“We are giving our users an incredible selection of content, with more than 35 million hours of video from blinkx, building on all of the content that we currently offer from Hulu and other sources,” said Joe Costello, Orb’s CEO. “With Orb TV and Orb BR, consumers now have another way to watch all of this great blinkx content, and are no longer limited to viewing it on their computers.”
