IntelliTouch today announced Eos, a digital wireless whole-house audio speaker system for iPod. Using Wi-Fi-friendly technology, the Eos system links up to four stereo remote wireless speakers, promising interference-free CD sound quality (48Khz). Eos’ GigaWave technology boasts error correction and a unique frequency hopping scheme for a range of up to 150 feet through walls and ceilings in both indoor and outdoor environments.

View more of our CES special coverage At the heart of the Eos system is an iPod docking base station/transmitter that features two stereo drivers and a ported subwoofer. The system features SRS WOW sound enhancement technology, which improves the dynamic audio performance of compressed and uncompressed audio by expanding the size of the audio image and creating a deep, rich bass response.

Like the base station, the Eos remote wireless speakers boast two stereo drivers and a ported subwoofer.  The design of the wireless remote speaker features a removable, integrated power supply that allows the speaker to mount directly on a wall power outlet independently, without mounting brackets or other support. By removing the power supply from its cavity on the rear of the cabinet, the stereo remote speaker can sit independently on a counter top or bookshelf.

The core system includes a docking station/transmitter with one wireless remote speaker. Other Eos wireless accessories include a weatherproof wireless outdoor amplifier, which features two audio zones with separate volume controls.

  • $299
  • Available in March 2007
  • Additional speaker remotes, amps and transmitter/receiver also sold separately ($129)
  • Range of 150 feet through walls and ceilings
