There’s deep tissue and shiatsu, Swedish and ones that relieve the sore muscles after a pick-up basketball game. Massages come in all flavors, and with a new iPhone app, you’ll be able to choose which one you need and have a specialty massage chair deliver it.
The HT-Connect wellness solution communicates directly with the AcuTouch 9500 massage chair ($5,999) from Human Touch, giving you a simple interface through which to customize your massage sessions.
The app remembers each user’s favorite settings, even according to the time of day—Swedish in the mornings; a deep tissue massage in the evening, for example.
Not sure what kind of massage you need? The app recommends massage programs based on expert advice from chiropractors, doctors and professional athletes. Or, you can tap into more than a dozen different auto-massage programs. Espresso Shots, for example, is a 5-minute, targeted relief program selected by pointing to your trouble spots on your iPhone or iPod touch.
Although it’ll be a few months before the AcuTouch 9500 chair is available (scheduled for the fall), you can download the HT-Connect app now from Apple’s iTunes App Store and you can preview the features by downloading the free Wellness ShakeUp app.
