These days, you can’t offer a thermostat without offering a WiFi thermostat. Honeywell has some cool thermostat options, but they are putting the new Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat out there for users that want to tap into the system while on the go.
This is obviously designed to turn the heads of homeowners thinking about the Nest. Honeywell’s option has a super-cool design that can blend into any room. It also offers that web-based perk of being able to peek in on your home’s temperature and energy usage from any smartphone.
The actual Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat has a touchscreen display and can pump out mobile and email alerts to let you know when the home is too hot, too cold, or too humid. It also sends out notices for filter changes and to let you know when your home loses power or web connectivity.
Honeywell has also added something called Smart Response technology, which means that the device can learn about how long it takes to heat or cool a home and adjust itself accordingly to match your schedule and needs.
Other features include Instant Away for instant energy savings, a peek at room and outside conditions, and compatibility with Honeywell’s free Total Connect Comfort app for iOS and Android devices. Of course, that touchscreen can also be customized to match any room.
“As home decor evolves, consumers want their thermostat to complement their decor,” said Beth Wozniak, president of Honeywell Environmental and Combustion Controls. “It puts creativity in the hands of the homeowner with our Color Match feature. Just as they pick fabrics and paint, they can choose what the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat looks like in their home.”
Honeywell plans to start selling the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat in May, with an MSRP of $249.
