You want AirPlay, but you don’t want to buy a new receiver. We don’t blame you. Receivers can be expensive and hard to hook up. Onkyo is making it easy to add AirPlay into its products, with the DS-A5 iPod/iPhone/iPad docking station.

This newly announced product adds AirPlay goodness into all Onkyo receivers and a few other audio products as well. You don’t need an open USB port or an Ethernet connection. However, the DS-A5 does have an Ethernet jack, as well as WiFi support.

Adding in Apple AirPlay means that you can stream audio to that device, via any networked iPod, iPhone, iPad, PC or Mac. According to Onkyo, having the device docked can deliver digital signals directly to the receiver’s DAC.

Analog stereo audio outputs and a composite video output are also available.

Onkyo will start selling the DS-A5 iPod/iPhone/iPad Dock in October, with an MSRP of $199.
