
Good things come to those who wait—well, just call me impatient.
Over Christmas, I purchased a Slingbox. Today, however, it was leaked that Dish will soon incorporate Sling features into its next DVR box. That’s OK—I didn’t want to have to deal with swapping a box out anyway!
Jealousy aside, SatelliteGuys.us says that the new box will combine Dish’s 722 model (shown) with Sling, web access, and technology that will allow you to send snippets to friends. The web access will be limited, but it’s still pretty neat-O, Frito! Supposedly, it will also have a new remote and new interface, with channel logos.
The unit is expected to have 1TB of storage when it launches. However, half of that will be preloaded with high-def movies.
Last year, Echostar announced plans to purchase Sling Media and its Slingbox line. The company just announced its first joint product, the Sling Modem.
