If accurate color and the ability to tweak the image to perfection is something you look for in a home theater projector, especially an affordable one, then check out the latest BenQ projector.

The BenQ W7500 has a lot going for it for $2,500. The single-chip DLP engine delivers 1080p resolution (there’s still a dearth of 4K projectors) in both 2D and 3D.

Read our review of the BenQ W7000 Projector.

The system’s basic specifications include a 60,000: 1 contrast ratio and 2,000 ANSI lumen light output. The W7500 uses an all-glass lens system with 1.5 zoom ratio and both vertical and horizontal lens shift (controllable with a front-mounted joystick) for accurate installation. It’s also compatible with Panamorph lenses for CinemaScope-style theater screens.

For the videophile and home theater installer, the W7500 is ISFccc-certified, which means it includes the proper picture adjustments for a full video calibration. The projector’s color output is compliant to the native Rec. 709 standard of HDTV.

At CES I was told the projector will ship in around 60 days, which puts it in March, for an MSRP of $2,799. The actual selling price will probably be less, since it’s predecessor, the W7000, sold for about $2,000.
