It was just a couple of days ago that we told you where to find a bargain on a TiVo DRV. Now it seems the reason for that bargain may have been the fact that TiVo is coming out with new models and a new monthly service plan.
The new entry-level TiVo Premier model cost $149 and records two shows at once up to 75 hours (up from 45) or HD content. Following that is a Premiere XL model priced at $249 that goes up to 150 hours of HD. Finally Premiere Elite will be offered for $399, that’s $100 than the previous Elite model, and it can record four shows at once for up to 300 hours of HD
Of course you still need to pay the monthly service fee. If you have one TiVo, the rate is $14.99/month. Multiple TiVo owners get a discount, only $12.99/month for each device. You can also pay a one-time fee of $499 to cover service for the lifetime of the unit (or $399 each if you’re a multi-unit household).
Unlike your cable-supplied DVR, these set-top-boxes also offer an assortment on streaming video and audio services such as Netflix, Pandora, Amazon and Hulu Plus.
The new models go on sale March 25th.
