Netgear’s EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite
Seems like every company wants a piece of your digital media collection these days, perhaps with some additional web goodies to deliver. We heard about Netgear’s little Digital Entertainer Elite several months back, and it’s now ready to hit primetime.
The company has announced that the EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite is available worldwide, and in fact you can pre-order it from Netgear for $399.
That’ll get you the ability to pluck files from your digital media collection and play them on your home entertainment setup, via Ethernet or wirelessly (with a dual-band wireless N router recommended for optimum speeds).
The EVA9150 will upconvert video to 1080p and play everything including: AVI, DivX, Xvid, WMV9, MOV, M4V, VOB, MPG, MP1, MP2, MP4, ISO, IFO, MKV (with AC3 only), TS, M2TS, and PS files.
Audio support is equally extensive, with compressed MP3, WMA and AAC files for playback, lossless FLAC, WAV, PCM, LPCM, AIFF, DTS passthrough, Dolby surround passthrough, Dolby stereo and TrueHD downmix and more.
You get upconversion through the HDMI port, and other connectors available for component video, composite video, S-video, digital S/PDIF and stereo audio.
The device features a 500-gigabyte hard drive for a good chunk of storage, but it’ll also work with your NAS or other storage devices, or other portable media via the two USB ports.
If your own collection isn’t enough for you, it can also stream from the Internet, play RSS feeds and video, show YouTube video, Flickr photo slideshows and Internet radio tunes.
