Netgear Details Digital Entertainer Elite
The EVA9150 could be another streaming dream -- though it has a nightmarish price tag.
Netgear EVA9150
Netgear’s EVA9150 will support 1080p high-definition video, as well as multiple content platforms.

We had received some advanced info on Netgear’s Digital Entertainer Elite with an embargo date for next month. However, since Wired, Engadget and Gizmodo are all spilling the beans, we figured it would be ok to leak a few details of our own.

The new box allows users to enjoy videos, music and photos on your TV—you know the drill. However, it doesn’t just take content from your PC. This unit will come packing a 500GB hard drive, as well as the ability to tap into services such as YouTube and Flickr. The unit will stream your content in 1080p, but is that really enough when Apple TV, Netflix and so many other boxes are clamoring for space in your overcrowded A/V cabinet?

Could be, but not at the $400 that Netgear is quoting for the EVA9150. For that kind of cash, it had better have elves inside making their own tiny versions of my favorite movies. Hopefully that’s a TBA feature. Still, the EVA9150 is expected to hit sometime in early 2009.
