Roku isn’t the only company adding streaming products to its lineup today. Netgear just announced four new products designed for big-screen home theater use.
First, we have a trio of new NeoTV Streaming players. All three boxes support the HTML 5 standard, for streaming content. Designed to make any TV a smart TV, the new boxes include the NeoTV (NTV300), NeoTV PRO (NTV300S) and NeoTV MAX (NTV300SL).
All three NeoTV players offer on-demand access to services like Netflix, VUDU, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Pandora and much more. (Just remember that some subscriptions and/or fees may apply.) Each one also supports full 1080p HD content and Dolby Digital 5.1—when it’s available from the source, of course.
Other common features across the line include built-in WiFi, an Ethernet jack, a remote, and the option for a free remote control app for iOS and Android devices.
The NeoTV PRO adds in Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) so users can wirelessly display a compatible laptop screen on the TV in up to 1080p full-HD video resolution and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound. It also has an AV port for use with older TVs. The NeoTV MAX has 3D support, a remote with a full QWERTY keyboard, and includes the option to play personal media from external hard disk drives, USB drives and DLNA media servers.
The NeoTV, NeoTV PRO and NeoTV MAX are shipping now with MSRPs of $49.99, $59.99 and $69.99, respectively.
Netgear also took the wraps off the latest Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter, also known as the PTV3000. This nifty device works with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) devices, allowing users to mirror a laptop, smartphone or tablet screen on a big-screen TV. No cables or connections are needed; Intel WiDi and the Miracast standard make the whole transfer possible using WiFi.
If you have a compatible portable, you can stream 1080p HD video and 5.1 surround sound to that big screen. Just connect the adapter to an open USB port on your HDTV. If the TV doesn’t have one of those, the Push2TV also comes with an adapter that plugs directly into an electrical outlet.
Netgear’s new Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter is available now, with an MSRP of $59.99.
