Netflix Delivery Crippled by System Outage
Online movie rental giant Netflix didn't deliver any DVDs on Tuesday, and hadn't as of early Thursday due it a system outage.
August 14, 2008 | by Arlen Schweiger

There may be a slight delay in that next movie from your queue reaching your mailbox soon. Netflix said on Thursday that it’s suffered its biggest system outage ever, and it’s delaying shipment of DVDs to about a third of its 8.4 million customers, according to Reuters (via USA Today).

Good thing you can access videos through that cool little Roku box, though not on your Xbox 360 just yet.

The online rental giant couldn’t ship discs on Tuesday, served up some on Wednesday and none as of earlier today, says Reuters.

The last time Netlfix had system problems, back in March, the system was down for about 12 hours. Affected customers wound up receiving a 5 percent discount on their bill.

Longer outage this time, we’ll see if Netflix ups the ante. Maybe they’ll reconsider the extra charge for Blu-ray.

Too many people were fuming over…this. Turn that frown upside down.

Updating the system to charge extra for Blu-ray probably crashed the system.
