Nero just announced three products, including LiquidTV, which puts TiVo features on any PC.
There are plenty of devices that allow you to record TV to your PC, but Nero just announced a deal that will actually put TiVo into your computer mix.
LiquidTV can add the TiVo experience to any PC or portable. Twice says the $199 package will include an NTSC/ATSC Hauppauge 950Q tuner card, a remote, a portable antenna, and a free year of the TiVo service. Of course, you’ll have to pay after the first year, but there’s no word on pricing or if it will be an easy add-on for existing TiVo subscribers. A software-only version will also be available for $99.
Both versions of LiquidTV will be available starting October 15.
Nero also announced Nero 9 ($99), a new version of the company’s existing software. The new application is all about multimedia, with a virtual toolbox that allows users to create, edit, rip, copy, backup, and convert music, photos and video.
Another program, Nero Move It is designed for media junkies that want to share content across a variety of devices. They sound the same, no? Well, Nero 9 does have a lot more functionality, including ShowTime, StartSmart for music, and high-def options. The Move It program is in stores for $50, or as a $40 download. Both are available now.

With this can I download a show like “The Office” thursday night and rip it to a dvd?

It’s hard to imagine life without remote controls, but it’s been a long, strange path to the modern incarnation we know and love today.
You should NOT need all 3, Noel… just LiquidTV. Yes, you should be able to record “The Office” and put it on a DVD or your iPod.
The only other thing you will need is a TiVo sub—but even that is free for the first year. That’s how they get you hooked!
