Navitar’s HD ScreenStar lens
Looking to blow up your widescreen movie image a bit, or maybe you need to accommodate more space between your projector and screen? Navitar has introduced what it says is the first available high-definition conversion projection lenses in the industry.
The company’s HD ScreenStar lens series is designed to match the performance of HD format projectors and instantly increase the projector’s image size or throw distance by placing the ScreenStar lens in front of the existing lens, the company says.
The first two lenses released are the 0.8X and 0.65X HD ScreenStar lenses. The 0.8X will boost image size up to 25 percent and the 0.65x provides for up to a 50 percent increase. Both are compatible with projectors with a prime lens from F1.8 to 2.5, and up to a 1 1/3 inch LCD, DLP, LCOS, or DILA display.
The lenses are constructed with multi-element, highly-corrected lens systems with large diameter optics for easy fit, minimal vignetting of less than 0.1 percent, and allow excellent light transmission, according to Navitar. The lens package includes a stabilizing leg that anchors to a table or shelf, and optional ceiling mounts are available separately.
The 0.8X lens lists for $1,500. Pricing is not available for the 0.65X on www.navitar.com yet.
