Myka Makes BitTorrent Legit for Living Room
An unknown is using peer-to-peer tech to entice viewers to buy its Apple TV killer.

Remember when BitTorrent was taboo? Now manufacturers are making it semi-legit.

Take Myka. They have developed a set-top box that allows you to download torrents and show them up on your big screen.

It looks a little like Apple TV and even operates like it, hooking up to the web via LAN or Wi-Fi. It also has HDMI, composite, S-Video and SPDIF ports too. The big difference is for a slightly higher price, this baby isn’t a “closed, proprietary system.”

We’re not entirely sure that it’s legal either. The company says they are also working with major studios and TV networks to deliver content, including HD. For now, Electronista says the box supports DivX, H.264, MPEG-4, WMV, MPEG-2 and VC-1

The company is currently taking orders for three models: the 80GB ($299), the 160GB ($349) and the 500GB ($459). They expect to deliver sometime this summer.
