Musical Fidelity’s Titan amp
If you’ve got golden ears and a few pots of gold to match, UK-based Musical Fidelity has the power amplifier for you.
The company offers up its Titan amp to drive pretty much any loudspeaker you can throw at it, and we’re guessing you’ve got some pretty darn impressive audiophile speakers if you’ll be powering them with this gorgeous $30K amp.
The Titan follows in the footsteps of Musical Fidelity’s biggie kW amp with its combination of build quality and performance to give you what should be a long-lasting focal point of your high-end audio rig.
No transformer interacts with the signal circuitry, the company says, in the dual mono fully balanced configuration. The Titan delivers 1,000 watts per channel into 8 ohms; 2,000 into 4 ohms; or 4,000 into 2 ohms.
While you’re speakers are on the Titan’s power trip you need not fret over distortion and signal-to-noise ratio. Musical Fidelity says distortion is less than 0.01 percent from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, and around 1 percent at 100 kHz. Sounds rings out like a Class A tube amp for rich, warm, natural reproduction to go with its dynamics and detail, the company adds.
