Jeff Kussard is Vice President of Strategic Development at Russound, a leader in the whole house entertainment arena.
How are the multiroom audio manufacturers embracing and implementing newer technology such as the iPod or Media Center PCs?
While new technologies are constantly emerging, Russound is still driven by what value our products add to a user’s experience. Recent history has witnessed a paradigm shift where an entire media library can be accessed at the touch of a button. This makes multiroom audio even more compelling for the homeowner. We have recognized our role in making content manageable and accessible. The launch of our iBridge Dock last summer was a great success. We have followed that with our iBridge Bay, which allows a Mac mini to function as an iTunes/Front Row media server. Currently we’re developing products for the PC market.
What kind of future-proofing is involved in distributed audio? Any estimations on what trends we’ll see in the category over the next year or two?
While I’d love to claim that distributed audio is future-proof, no technology is immune to evolution. We put great credence into research and development, keeping on top of networking innovations from the world of Information Technology.
