Out at this week’s 2013 International CES? You could be seeing who and what is hogging power back at your house, if you had a little something from the Monster Central PowerControl line. The new series of smart plug products is now shipping.

The line is launching with the PCT 100MC ($59.95) and the PCT 300MC ($99.95). The PCT 100MC has one outlet with power measurement and on/off control, 540 joules of fire-proof protection with a $200,000 connected equipment warranty. The PCT 300MC has three outlets, even though only one has the on/off control. It also ups the other model’s numbers to 1080 joules and $300K worth of warranty.

Both plugs need the GTW 100 Monster Gateway ($59.95) to work. This device plugs into your home router or home network with an Ethernet cable. From there, it will communicate wirelessly with any PowerControl plugs around the house.

Each one is also compatible with the People Power Monster Central App, which is how you’ll get all of the power info. Available now, the free download allows users to monitor and manage power consumption and settings of any connected home appliances, via WiFi and your smartphone.

Monster also has two bundle options available. The $99.95 PCT 100MC Kit has the PCT 100MC and the GTW100, with the PCT 300MC Kit ($149.95) packing in one PCT 300MC, the GTW 100 and an FCC-approved case for rugged use.

Monster is also currently beta testing the People Power Presence app. The company says the app can create an “intelligent home,” allowing it to make decisions and control devices connected to Monster Central PowerControl plugs—all without the need to purchase additional cameras, microphones or sensors. As mentioned, this app is currently in beta, but is expected to get a release later this year.
