Instead of inhaling exhaust fumes, these homeowners enclosed a loft above their garage and added entertainment.

After these homeowners enclosed the open space above their three-car garage, it was the perfect secluded spot for a home theater.

The installer added the electronics system, a seating riser, an equipment rack with dedicated power, and built out the speaker’s “wing” walls.

To make the area feel more great room and less grease monkey, they added six velvet theater chairs and two “money” seats, which provided those lucky viewers with motorized reclining action.

Interestingly, the homeowner was unwilling to discuss any video projector that cost more than $5,000, but was completely floored by the option of including a touchpanel remote, which had a price tag of $10,000 (including programming costs).

In addition to audio-system access, the remote can operate the lights, a motorized Austrian shade, the climate control, and peeks in on two color security cameras on theproperty.

Originally, Storch Entertainment Systems installed a different screen with a basic-box frame that fit easily into the “wing” wall niche, but once the homeowners heard—or more specifically did not hear—the Screen Research unit, they decided to make the switch.

Of course, this wasn’t that simple, since the Screen Reasearch frame was a few inches too wide. Luckily, because of the unique screen material and its mounting system, Storch was able to trim the 45-degree corners of the screen and fit the screen easily into the niche. The end result was a screen surface that measured 4 inches less wide than the original, an easy adjustment for the projector.

The result of the screen transplant was a huge improvement in sound, and to the suprise of all, an equally large improvement in picture quality.
