Monitor Audio is putting a lot of sound into its new Mass speaker system. Know what they aren’t putting in there? A lot of actual mass. This is actually a pretty compact setup!
It’s also a stylish looking setup, with a slick matching satellite speaker, a center channel and an active subwoofer.
That Mass 10 satellite speaker and the Mass Center have a funky, curved design with contrasting solid aluminum end caps at each end. Both also have a newly developed 1-inch tweeter and 4-inch bass/midrange, which includes C-CAM cone technology. Monitor also offers optional wall brackets and floor stands with an internal (pre-wired) cable management system.
The Mass W200 Active Subwoofer has two 10-inch C-CAM bass drivers and a 220-watt Class-D amplifier. Other features include DSP, a 12-volt trigger input, and three bass modes for Music, Movie and Impact.
The Mass models can be purchased as a set or individually—well sort of. Four of the Mass 10 satellite speakers are packaged with the center for $699, with the W200 sub selling for $599. A full 5.1 Mass system will also available with an MSRP of $1,299.

Should TV manufacturers offer dumbed-down TVs that focus on image quality rather than apps?

Say hello to home control in this high-tech palace, circa 2006.
If you buy separately you save one dollar! Haha I love nitpicking. But seriously, they should take off, say, $50 for buying the package with sub. If the discount convinces a single person to buy the package instead of forgoing the sub (or buying a competing sub), it’s worth it. I’m sure the profit on a $599 MSRP sub is at least $300.
