These homeowners have catapulted a 50-year-old ranch-style home into the 21st century with modern, minimalist design, with the help of custom electronics pro London Audio.

Blonde woods, glistening stone, premium leathers and polished chrome replaced the Cold-war design elements during this complete home makeover. And the basement bonus room has taken on new life as a dedicated screening room.

“This young and stylish couple had little interest in an Art Deco or traditionally styled theater,” says London Audio’s Rick Ho. “They wanted their screening room to take on the same modern design aesthetic found in the rest of their home.

“They were drawn not only to the sound of the B&W speaker system for their theater but they found the Kevlar drivers, chrome trim rings and wenge finish perfect design accents for their home.”

The design of the speakers had so much impact on the homeowners that they prefer to keep the grille clothes off all their speakers. It not only improves performance, but has the industrial design aesthetic that they adore.

Over-stuffed loungers were shunned in favor of the straight lines of European designed leather couch and chairs. But, the best seat in the house isn’t a a seat at all, says Ho. It’s a comfortable day-bed.

“In Indian mythology, Vishnu the lord of the cosmos, is always pictured reclining,” the installer notes. “It’s a sign of order and proper balance in the universe. What better way to bring balance to our hectic lives than to retreat to our own private screening room?”
