McIntosh’s MXA60
For over a half-century McIntosh Laboratory has produced some of the consumer audio industry’s most desirable products and is now shipping its 60th Anniversary MXA60 Integrated Audio System.
The MXA60 (MSRP $7,500) is the New York-based company’s first stand-alone, all-in-one system and it incorporates a 75-watt per channel solid-state amplification section, a tube-based preamplification section, a CD and SACD disc player, capabilities to play MP3 and other compressed audio files, an AM/FM/RBDS tuner and a pair of two-way, bass-reflex loudspeakers.
McIntosh president Charlie Randall says that following the system’s introduction several months ago, the company has fielded a lot of requests about the product.
“Ever since we introduced the MXA60 earlier this year we’ve been receiving a great deal of interest, both from our retail partners and from consumers,” says Randall.
“In many ways this unique system represents what McIntosh has always been about. It combines our ongoing pursuit of audio perfection with our commitment to utilizing the latest, most advanced technologies in products that meet and exceed changing customer desires.”
Aesthetically the system features an all-metal case with anodized aluminum accents, backlit glass faceplates with peak reading watt meters that together combine the company’s classic industrial designs with modern touches.
