No—your friend doesn’t have rabies. If he or she is an audiophile, they are probably frothing because Mark Levinson is shipping its No326S Stereo Preamplifier. If they’re not… well… we can’t help you.

Based on the No320S, this new unit includes a lot of circuits that true geeks might recognize from the classic No32. The No326S, however, uses Arlon 25, a circuit board material that the company describes as “exotic.”

It also offers filtered AC power and other noise suppression technologies resulting in detailed sound that you can almost reach out and touch..

Other features include a frequency response of 10 to 40kHz (±0.2 dB), seven configurable inputs, three balanced (XLR) inputs, four single-ended (RCA) inputs, an RS-232, and a large front-panel display.

An optional 19-inch rack-mount kit and phono modules are also available. There’s no word on pricing for any of it, but in our experience, Mark Levinson is for those with discriminating tastes—and a budget that can handle those tastes.
