One of the best ways to experience technology is to see it working inside real life home settings. MainStreet America is designed to offer just that. Located outside of Houston, MainStreet America will include a variety of model homes that visitors can tour, as well as a 45,000-square-foot guest center.
Planned for at least one of the model homes are products from Legrand, including the On-Q Unity home control system, lyriQ multi-room audio system, a selective call intercom and surveillance cameras. Visitors interested in learning more about the products can use handheld scanners. Much like a using a gift registry, users can stroll at their leisure and point the scanner at products to “fill their shopping cart” with information. This particular home in which Legrand products will be predominately showcased, called the Wakefield, will also be designed to be a net zero home, which means it is able to generate its own electricity without producing carbon emissions.
Legrand products will be showcased in two other homes planned for the 14-acre site—which range in price from $150,000 to $616,000. MainStreet America is slated to open in October. In addition to the interactive model homes, the design center will have an area dedicated entirely to home automation.
