Logitech Harmony Adapter Controls PS3 via IR
IR-to-Bluetooth adapter enables any Harmony remote to control Sony PS3.

Logitech’s Harmony Adapter for Sony’s PlayStation 3, still in the development process, will allow the PS3 to be controlled via any Harmony remote.

Details are scarce on the IR-to-Bluetooth converter, which was first reported by EngadgetHD.

However, Logitech has confirmed that the adapter will offer complete control of watching movies on the PS3, including turning the console on and off.

The Harmony Adapter also won’t take up a USB port on the PS3, which is Bluetooth-only, according to Logitech.

Control has been one of the major issues for PS3 users since its inception. Nyko and Logic3 have developed USB-based solutions to combat the control problems, while a user at Remote Central developed the IR4PS3, the first full function IR remote for the PS3.

And Audio Authority recently introduced its BlueBeam converter, which also allows universal remote controls to be used with the PS3.

Pricing and availability for the Harmony Adapter haven’t been announced.
