Scottish manufacturer Linn must truly appreciate its audiophile following. It recently gave them three upgrades to a product it introduced in 1972, to enhance a music format that most people don’t listen to anymore.

Linn premiered its new Sondek LP12 SE turntable earlier this year with the new features:
Ekos SE tone arm—a machined titanium tone arm
Keel—a sub-chassis, arm board and arm collar machined from one solid aluminum piece
Trampolin—a new aluminum base board

The LP-12 Mechanical, in standard Black Ash, Rosenut, Cherry or Maple in the U.S. runs about $2,800.

Among the Sondek LP12’s high-performance features are a patented, low-noise, single-point bearing to eliminate noise and optimize information retrieval, and a high-mass, perfectly balanced, belt-driven platter to maintain speed stability, according to Linn.
