Unless you have the organizational skills of a Martha Stewart, your computer’s multimedia files can be a big mess on your computer. Cisco wants to de-clutter the mess and give you access to everything on a home network that’s simple to navigate that you won’t even care which folders everything comes from.

Its solution is the Linksys by Cisco Media Hub, showing at this week’s CES 2009, and it sweeps through all of your folders and centralizes everything on your PC for you to easily scroll and click through audio, video and photo files.

The Media Hub neatly consolidates your files, including iTunes, in a browser-based interface—you’ll get album art to view songs, and thumbnail images for your photos and videos (organized by date or name), regardless of where they reside on your PC or Mac.

Even better, you can get remote access to your digital libraries up in the data cloud, too. All you have to do is pick a remote access name, and then you’ll be able to log into www.ciscomediahub.com and enjoy your Media Hub content, including the ability to upload or download files.

You won’t have to worry about your files crashing and burning on your computer, either, since Media Hub includes backup software to automatically copy digital files on the network and save them for you. And if you need more room down the road, there are two drive bays and USB ports on the Media Hub for greater capacity.

The current options available are:

  • NMH305 - Media Hub with 500 GB hard drive, $299
  • NMH405 - Media Hub with LCD and 6-in-1 card reader, 500 GB hard drive, $349
  • NMH410 - Media Hub with LCD and 6-in-1 card reader, 1 TB hard drive, $429
