Joining its top competitors, LG USA is pairing its new “Infinia” LED LCD high-definition televisions (HDTVs) with its new networkable 3D Blu-ray player and packaging these components with two sets of 3D glasses.

Differentiating its 3D products from the other LED LCD products on the market, LG’s top-of-the-line Infinia LX9500 will offer THX certification and the more affordably priced Infinia LX6500 offers wireless Internet connectivity.

Peter Reiner, senior vice president, marketing, LG Electronics USA, says that current market conditions drove LG’s development of these products.

“While consumers are still seeking the ultimate 2D HDTV home entertainment experience, demand for 3D technology is growing by the day, and as more content becomes available in the 3D format, this demand will continue to increase,” Reiner points out.

“LG is now providing consumers with ‘something better’ in 3D ― sleek design, entertainment and online content options and the extraordinary picture and sound quality that people have come to expect from LG.”

Both the LX6500 and LX9500 series of products offer a choice of 47-inch and 55-inch screen sizes, Energy Star certification, and Web apps that include Netflix, VUDU, Youtube, Yahoo Widgets and Picasa.

In addition to the 2D THX certification option, the LX9500 series will include features like the company’s 480Hz motion processing and LED local dimming.

LG says the less expensive LX6500 Series will incorporate edge backlighting, the company’s TruMotion 240Hz video processing and a WiFi upgrade path.

Providing the source content for these new televisions is the company’s BX580 Blu-ray disc player. LG’s latest generation BD player adds 3D disc playback capabilities, wireless Internet connectivity and a full selection of Web apps that include YouTube, VUDU, MLB TV, Pandora, AccuWeather and Netflix to its list of standard features.

To support the retail launch of these products LG is preparing to roll out its “1-1-3D bundle,” which will pair the LX6500 and LX9500 TVs with the BX580 Blu-ray player, two pairs of active shutter 3D glasses, a $100 instant rebate and a redemption certificate for Warner Home Video’s Blu-ray 3D title IMAX Under the Sea 3D.
