LG Bows Opus Line of 1080p LCD TVs
Sets of 42-, 47- and 57-inch LCDs mark LGs new Opus line, ranging from $2,499 to $4,499, respectively, and will be out in September.
July 23, 2007 | by Rebecca Day

Sony has Bravia, Sharp has Aquos, Toshiba has Regza, Panasonic has Viera and now LG has Opus, a brand-within-the-brand that’s supposed to set the company’s best TVs apart from the pack.

The Opus line was launched last week at LG’s summer line show at Christie’s, the art and pop culture auction house in Manhattan, where the company also showed its HDTV refrigerator, a new steam dryer and announced its foray into portable navigation.
The Opus series includes 42-, 47- and 57-inch LCD TVs in Full HD 1080p resolution. Opus models incorporate TruMotion technology, a 120-Hz LCD panel that’s said to eliminate the jaggies found in action scenes and scrolling text. Opus models also feature TruColor, which expands the color gamut to reproduce 92 percent of the NTSC spectrum.

Opus TVs will be in stores in September at suggested retail prices of $2, 499 (42LBX), $3,299 (47LBX) and $4,499 (57LBX), respectively.
Still committed to plasma TV, LG also unveiled the 50-inch 50PY3D, a 1080p model with 3 HDMI inputs and a USB slot. The 50PY3D will also be in stores in September at a suggested retail price of $3,499.
