Leviton’s USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle Offers One-Stop Charging
The new product promises more charging power in less time.

Leviton has created a one-stop charging spot for your digital devices. The company’s new USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle offers the convenience of two vertical USB ports and an outlet combined into one device.

The product promises 2.1A of charging power and a 15A/125V tamper-resistant receptacle in one package. Those USB ports are Type A, 2.0/3.0, which means there’s a little “smart chip” inside, which should recognize and optimize the charging power of the device that’s plugged in.

That means you can juice up an iPhone and an iPad or one of your other USB-powered essentials, all while leaving the outlet for other uses. Maybe even a third portable? Leviton says that the receptacle can handle tablets, smartphones, gaming devices, e-readers, digital cameras, and more.

Designed to fit into a standard wallbox and use a standard wallplate, the receptacle can be multi-ganged with any standard Leviton wiring device.

“More than ever, today’s consumers are seeking a fast, effective means to power a wide range of personal electronic devices,” said William Randall, Leviton’s director of product management for the residential side. “The Leviton USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle provides the charging power necessary for even the most demanding devices.”

Available in white and light almond, the Leviton USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle is available now through the company’s network of retail and electrical distribution channels, as well as Leviton’s online store
