It’s hard enough trying to find an empty outlet. Now, you have all of these devices that need a USB port for power. Instead of adding more to your home office setup, Leviton is making it easy to charge those portable devices at any outlet with a USB Charger Receptacle.
The 15-amp receptacle has been around for a little bit. Now, Leviton just announced plans to add a new 20-amp version. The 20 Amp USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle offers 2.1 amps of charging power inside a 20-amp, 125-volt tamper-resistant receptacle.
The unit features two USB ports, as well as a 20-amp receptacle for charging up high-current devices, including small kitchen appliances. Otherwise, the USB ports should be able to handle tablets, music players, smartphones, gaming devices, digital cameras, e-readers, and much more.
“Leviton’s new 20 Amp USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding solutions to meet varying applications,” explained William Randall, Leviton’s director of product management for residential. “Understanding that many customers charge their USB devices in the kitchen, this latest device offers USB charging capabilities without sacrificing a receptacle necessary for safely powering appliances with larger loads.”
Each item in Leviton’s USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle line is designed to fit in a standard wallbox, use a standard wallplate and can be multi-ganged with any standard Leviton wiring device. It works in the home office, the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and more.
Leviton is selling the 20A USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle now via the company’s network of retail and electrical distribution channels.
