Leon Speakers’ OS Series soundbar

There are soundbars, and then there’s Leon Speakers’ new OS Soundbar.

The OS stands for Over-Sized, and the folks at Leon must have been chuckling at least a little with such an understatement. This soundbar speaker is like a leaner version of the “2001: A Space Odyssey” monolith.

As with other Horizon Series soundbars, Leon’s OS speakers can be custom-built to match the width of your screen. In this case, the company’s angled toward those who have behemoths like the 100-plus inch LCDs and plasmas that have come out from Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung, Hitachi and LG Philips. More likely, you’ll have a projection screen that might require a sleek, single-bar speaker to go beneath it or maybe behind it if the screen’s acoustically transparent.

You can get the OS series speaker as an LCR (left/center/right) configuration, an LR, or center-only, and Leon will make it up to the width of 120 inches.

Leon incorporates full-range European drivers ranging from three inches to six inches, with each channel featuring dual 4-inch Peerless HDS woofers and Morel MDT29 or ET-338 1-inch hand-treated, cloth-dome tweeter.

If you need speakers in a hurry to finish off your theater, it only takes Leon three to five business days to custom-build the OS, the company says. MSRPs start at $6,500.
