Dynamic contrast ratio in the five figures is outstanding. Samsung’s next-generation LCD HDTV has gone into the six figures, with its 81 Series LED-driven image boasting dynamic contrast of 100,000:1.
The 81 Series delivers full HD 1080p resolution, and Samsung’s local dimming technology boosts the dynamic contrast ratio by turning off darker areas of the LCD TV display for deeper black levels, the company says.
Colors and viewing area are also improved in the 81 Series, according to Samsung. With the addition of the LED backlight unit, the TV can display a wide range of the NTSC color spectrum, resulting in deeper, truer colors, the company says. Its Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (SPVA) panel also offers 178o viewing angles from horizontal, vertical, and diagonal axes.
For connectivity, the 81 Series includes three HDMI 1.3 interfaces (two rear, one side) and a USB 2.0 port.
The Series is scheduled to be available in August with these estimated prices:

Is it hype as the M87 HDMI 1.3 TV that contains banding etcetera?.
So far, the awards that Samsung has received is based on its design and price rather then an excellent picture quality.
Does it have banding or poor picture quality problems for example grainy picture or time lag?
