This year, we saw a slew of tiny gadgets. Will 2009 be kickin’ it old school and pumping things up a notch?

The guys at Tech Crunch say they’ve been yapping with “sources close to Apple” about the possibilities of a bigger (and better?) iPod touch. One of the sources says he’s even had his mitts on the device. The unit is expected to have a 7- or 9-inch screen, and come in the fall.

Although an army of consumers seem to love stuffing thousands of songs and apps into their pockets, there are still those that like to be able to see what they are punching up. Tech Crunch says that all of those goodies are also “perfect for a touch screen device with an accelerometer.”

There’s no other specs or price estimates. That’s not really surprising, since it’s basically just a rumor at this point. If you’re looking for something to play with in the meantime, the current iPod touch starts at $229.
